Bay asked for proof of identity?

Bay asked for proof of identity which i emailed to them. now I am worried if this was genuine.

Whenever eBay or PayPal contact you, they normally address the email with your full name. If there was no name at the top of the email asking for your ID, you have been scammed and identity theft will follow. Within a couple of months the police will visit you because your ID will have been used to commit several frauds.

Don't be naive in life, you will get done for it.

I have never heard of Ebay needing proof of ID - if you sent them a scan of your personal documents, that was probably a scam to try and steal your identity for fraud.

In 9 years with ebay i have never heard of this. if you got the request by email in your ordinary email 'In Box' go to your my ebay page and click on the 'Messages' tab. If the request you got by email is NOT also in your ebay messages box then it did NOT come from ebay and you have been scammed into giving personal details away. All genuine emails from ebay that arrive in your email In Box are repeated in your ebay 'Messages' screen.

I have never heard of this...ever. You fell for a scam and your identity is now compromised. Time to freeze bank accounts and put out a fraud alert to the credit bureaus.
