Am I lower middle class?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
My mother, father, paternal grandmother and brother live in a multifamily terraced 3-flat house in a very quiet area in Concourse Village, Bronx, New York. We live on the first and second floor, with a kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a backyard and a basement, with 3 TVs with cable service and a PlayStation 3. Two families live separately in the 2nd and 3rd flat and pay rent to my father and paternal grandmother whom owns the house. My father is a bus driver and earns $40,000 USD annually with an Associates Degree and my paternal grandmother owns a fashion salon business. I attend public school, but my father can afford private school.

You own property - you're not lower middle class anymore. Middle for sure, with a lot of the income coming from the property and the rent you collect.

Why bother to ask? If the property is owned, it sounds like middle class.

You are middle class. Your father has a decent job and an AA degree.

sounds like middle class

Who cares? You sound like you are alive and well, and people in your family are employed, and that is about all anyone can ask for.
